Mission

The Serra Mission is to foster and  promote vocations to the ministerial priesthood and religious life while  furthering one’s own Catholicism to fulfill their vocation to service.

About Our Organization:

The Serra movement was started with four men interested in their own spiritual growth, and soon others joined and the formation of the club in Seattle, Washington on February 27, 1935, was born.

They chose Padre Junipero Serra the noted Spanish missionary as their patron.  This 18th century Franciscan priest was an explorer and colonizer of California where he was the     founder of the “Missions of California.”  He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in September 1988.  In 1993, pope John Paul II referred to Serra International as his “Vocation Arm of the Church.”

Serra is a voluntary organization of Catholic men and women of various ages, races, and backgrounds.  They support and aid the Bishop and Vocation Office in many of the projects and promotions that involve Seminarians, Deacons, Religious and Priests.

Serra International has 22,000 members in 750 clubs in 35 countries.  The United States/Canada Council administers Serra in the country.
