Queen of Peace Norms to Restore Public Mass
Brothers and sisters in Christ, it is with great joy that we announce that the public celebration of Mass will resume once more at Queen of Peace, beginning the weekend of May 9th and 10th. It is important that we move forward with faith, reason, and above all, with charity for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
PRELIMINARY PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES
1. First and most importantly, it is essential that anyone who feels sick, is experiencing any symptoms, or who has been exposed to this virus stays home.
2. Everyone who attends Mass inside the building is required to wear a face covering. This may be a mask, handkerchief, towel - anything that adequately covers the nose and mouth.
3. A general dispensation from the Sunday obligation will remain in place. We will continue to livestream the Saturday Masses at 4 pm in English and 6 pm in Spanish.
MASS SCHEDULE
The following Mass schedule will be implemented during the weekend of May 9 and May 10:
Saturday Masses:
4 pm English (live streamed)
6 pm Spanish (live streamed)
Sunday Masses: Regular Sunday Schedule
7:30 am English
9:30 am English
11:30 am English
1:30 pm Spanish
5:00 pm English
7:00 pm Spanish
For those who are not able to come and participate in the Masses that take place inside of the sanctuary, we will also have 2 Masses in the southwest parking lot, at 10:00 am in English and at 2:00 pm in Spanish.
GENERAL GUIDELINES DURING THE MASS
1. Social Distancing measures (minimum 6 feet distance between each person) will be enforced at all times before, during, and after each Mass.
2. Our sanctuary will be divided into 14 sections. Each section will hold a maximum of ten (10) family units, and every other pew will be roped off. Queen of Peace Norms to Restore Public Mass (continued)
3. The Gathering Space and the Tent of Gathering will be used as overflow space for Mass.
4. As a precaution, we will NOT be passing the offertory baskets. Parishioners are invited to drop off their offertory and capital campaign donations in the black boxes located in the Gathering Space, or in one of the centralized baskets that will be near each of the exits.
5. Those who wish to receive Communion will do so, standing from their pew. Ministers of Holy Communion will approach all communicants via the empty pews. No Communion lines will be formed. Only the Body of Christ will be distributed, and only in the hand. While wearing a mask, the faithful should establish a clear open palm with one hand below the other for the minister to place the Host. They should take the Host with their opposite hand, pull the mask down, consume the Eucharist, and then replace their mask.
6. At the conclusion of Mass, parishioners will be dismissed by section and pew, and will be asked to leave through specific exits based on where they are seated. We ask you to please wait to be dismissed in order to avoid crowding at the exits.
7. Due to the need to empty the building for cleaning and sanitizing before the next Mass, we ask you to please not remain in the sanctuary once Mass has finished. No social gatherings are to be held before or after Mass.
