What is happening:

The Supreme Court has overturned the 1973 ruling of Roe v. Wade, which guaranteed the legal “right" to abortion in the United States. As Catholics who believe in the dignity of every human life, the overruling of Roe v. Wade is a cause for rejoicing!

However, the decision has provoking strong reactions by many who are in favor of abortion. In the coming weeks, Catholic churches must prepare for the possibility of protesters and vandalism on church property.

What should we expect?

Currently, there are no protests planned at or near Queen of Peace Parish. However, we all should be prepared, especially this weekend.

With the Avalanche possibly winning the Cup tonight and the Pride festival taking place downtown, there is a potent gathering of people happening in Denver, particularly close to downtown.

What is the church doing?

Queen of Peace has security cameras working in the gathering space, the Adoration chapel, and in the north parking lot.

We have contacted the local police force and requested additional presence on Sundays, and have asked them to patrol the property in the nighttime to help deter potential vandalism.

What should we do?

Please remember the following:

  1. Let’s pray for peace in the weeks ahead.

  2. We are NOT public property. If anyone comes to the parish with any intentions other than worship, we must tell them to leave immediately.

  3. Remember to use your phone to take pictures or video if any disturbance onsite arises.

  4. Call Johnathon for any reason, at any time, at 720-251-5025.

  5. If a situation arises which you don’t know how to handle, call 911.
