We are leaving a legacy for the generations that come after us, just like the brothers and sisters who left a legacy for us.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

It’s an exciting time for Queen of Peace, as we move forward with our plans to build a new parish center! Our mission is to create a new space of faith formation and the new evangelization, to bring thousands of people to Jesus Christ. We are leaving a legacy for the generations that come after us, just like the brothers and sisters who left a legacy for us.

Our current buildings have served us four times their expected lifespan! For more than forty years, they have been a blessing for us. When the Great Room was the main church, it served as a place to celebrate the Eucharist along with countless baptisms, confirmations, first communions, weddings, and funerals; these facilities have served as a space for youth to receive religious education, for volunteers to serve in their different ministries, and for us to gather together for many different events. These buildings hold innumerable memories, which we will always cherish.

To everyone who was a part in making these facilities a reality, thank you! In today’s Gospel, Jesus says, “You are the salt of the earth...you are the light of the world.” You, who have given your time, talent, and treasure to support the mission of Queen of Peace, have been the salt and the light. As we get ready to give our facilities a much-deserved final rest, we look to you, those of you who built the current parish center and our new church. You give witness to us, that with guidance from the Holy Spirit, it is possible to answer God’s call and build up His body! You give us hope that it can be done.

This past week, we’ve had our team of architects on site, working on the design of our new parish center. They have spent hours every day reviewing the input and ideas we’ve received from everyone and working on something that we can all be proud of. Please, pray for our architects, that the Lord may guide them in their work and give them the wisdom and strength needed for this big project.

I also would like to remind you of the upcoming feasibility study. We are working with Cosgriff company, a 56-year-old Catholic development resources company to determine the potential of a successful capital campaign for Queen of Peace. To do this, we need your honest opinion of this project. You will all have the opportunity to give your input – whether that be through an interview, survey after Mass, or online questionnaire. I thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Let us come together, brothers and sisters, those who were a part of previous building projects and those who are participating for the first time, to create something beautiful for God.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,

¡Es un momento emocionante para Reina de la Paz,  ya que vamos avanzando con nuestros planes de construir un nuevo centro parroquial! Nuestra misión es crear un nuevo espacio de formación en la fe y la nueva evangelización, para llevar a miles de personas a Jesucristo. Estamos dejando un legado para las generaciones que vienen después de nosotros, al igual que los hermanos y hermanas que dejaron un legado para nosotros.

¡Nuestros edificios actuales nos han servido cuatro veces más de lo que se esperaba! Durante más de cuarenta años, han sido una bendición para nosotros. La Iglesia Viejita por muchos años nos sirvió para celebrar la Eucaristía junto con incontables bautismos, confirmaciones, primeras comuniones, bodas y funerales; Estas instalaciones también nos han servido como un espacio para que los jóvenes reciban educación religiosa, para que voluntarios sirvan en sus diferentes ministerios y para que podamos reunirnos en nuestros eventos. Estos edificios tienen innumerables recuerdos, que siempre guardaremos en nuestros corazones.

¡A todos los que hicieron realidad estas instalaciones, gracias! En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús dice: "Ustedes son la sal de la tierra...Ustedes son la luz del mundo". Ustedes, que han dado de su tiempo, talento y bienes para apoyar la misión de la Reina de la Paz, han sido La sal y la luz. A medida que nos disponemos a darle a nuestras instalaciones un merecido descanso final, los vemos a ustedes como ejemplo, los que construyeron el actual centro parroquial y nuestra nueva iglesia. Ustedes nos das testimonio de que con la guía del Espíritu Santo, es posible responder al llamado de Dios y edificar Su cuerpo. Ustedes nos da la esperanza de que si se puede.

Esta semana pasada, nuestro equipo de arquitectos ha estado en la parroquia, trabajando en el diseño de nuestro nuevo centro parroquial. Han pasado horas cada día, repasando las ideas que hemos recibido de todos y trabajando en algo de lo que todos podamos estar orgullosos. Por favor, oren por nuestros arquitectos, para que el Señor los guíe en su trabajo y les dé la sabiduría y la fuerza necesaria para este gran proyecto.

También quisiera recordarles del próximo estudio de factibilidad. Estamos trabajando con la compañía Cosgriff, una compañía católica de recursos de desarrollo, con 56 años de experiencia, para determinar el potencial de una exitosa campaña de capital para en Reina de la Paz. Para ello, necesitamos su opinión honesta sobre este proyecto. Todos tendrán la oportunidad de dar su opinión, ya sea a través de una entrevista, una encuesta después de Misa o un cuestionario en línea. Les agradezco de antemano por su cooperación.
